Goka area – The village of Japanese paper
Goka area belonging to Echizen city is consisted of 5 towns (Otaki town, Oizu town, Iwamoto town,Sadatomo town and Shinzaike town). Japanese paper making in this area was started 1,500 years ago and still famous as the village of paper called “Washi(和紙)”. Okamoto Shrine enshrines the god of paper and the festival of paper is held in Spring.
