Gifu Daibutsu (Buddha Statue)
Information :
The Buddha statue was completed as the principal image of Saiho-ji Temple(西法寺) in 1832. It is said that the time for 38 years was applied to manufacture of this Buddha statue. The statue was made of clay , bamboo and wood, then was pasted paper written scriptures.? Finally Gold leaves was pasted. Although this Buddha statue is called one of “3 major Buddha statues”, Takaoka Daibutsu is also declared. Seiho-ji is located in near Gifu Castle.
